Indian Head Massage is a wonderfully
relaxing therapy that involves massage of the soft tissues in the upper back, shoulders,
arms, neck, scalp and face. The therapist uses a range of different massage pressures and
rhythms to stimulate these areas.
The massage is safe, simple and
effective. It is based on an ancient Ayurvedic healing system and has been practised in
India for over 1000 years originally by women who used the technique to keep their hair
thick, healthy and in beautiful condition. The massage stimulates the circulation of the
scalp which nourishes the hair roots.
If you are feeling stressed or angry,
tension tends to accumulate in the head, neck or shoulders which are important energy
centres within the body. This tension can later show up as stiff neck or shoulders, eye
strain, headache or even hair loss. It involves working with a firm and gently rhythm to
help un-knot blockages and relieve this build up of tension. However, Indian Head Massage
is not just physical: it works on an emotional lever also, calming the spirit, promoting
relaxation and relieving stress. A typical massage can last up to 45 minutes.
