Naturopathy

Naturopathy is a system of treating human ailments which recognises that healing depends upon the vital curative forces within the human organism. It was Hippocrates who said that health could only be maintained if there was a correct balance of exercise and rest, good nourishment and emotional expression.

It is a treatment based on the principle that the natural laws of life apply inside and outside the body. It uses a range of natural approaches which include diet and herbs. It encourages exposure to sun and fresh air to maximise the body's natural response. A Naturopath will help to promote the body's ability to restore its own equilibrium on every level and in a natural way.

Problems treated:  arthritis, asthma, high blood pressure, stomach problems and skin conditions.

Treatment:  A Naturopath will diagnose a patient rather than a disease. A patient's vital reserve on a nutritional level will be assessed.  Other factors such as skin tone, complexion, mucous membranes will be taken into account. Treatment is based on the findings. There may be lifestyle changes, often with reference to particular exercises, more rest, a specific diet with nutritional supplements and elimination of toxic and allergenic materials. The range of therapies may include diet, herbal remedies, massage and yoga.
