Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is being turned to increasingly as people recognise they need help in understanding themselves and in achieving a greater fulfilment. Sigmund Freud introduced the concept of the unconscious mind and buried motives for disturbed thoughts, feelings and actions.

Modern psychotherapy covers a wide range of techniques and approaches.

Through open and sometimes guided discussion the patient gradually identifies patterns of behaviour and, in becoming conscious of them, develops the capacity to understand and change them.

The patient’s relationship with their therapist is of crucial importance.
